RED

Oh My, what a month we have had....too much commotion for me, but then, we are moving into the holidays, with lists and lists of "things to get done"...so I am opening with RED...and the permission for all to have a mini-breakdown, before we gather our wits and just like the good witch, Glenda...flick our magic wands and get on with the holidays.  What is really important is the family and friends that choose to be in our lives.

Red is the color of the holidays.  Well, mine is blue, but most people like to deck the halls with Red, Red, Red.  It is a pop of vibrance, which makes the darker days of Winter, just a bit brighter.  So, I went through my archives and dug out some red from the past year.  I hope you enjoy it.

Let's start softly, with the blush of red in nature

Ah, the beauty of a red rose - a gift of love!

The Amaryllis  is something that I have been working on for several years.
It is part of a pair that I played with, on and off, and on again.
I love to have an amaryllis growing during theHoliday season,  don't you?

When I started this, I used the 'cartoon' (tracing of my drawing) both ways.
It was fun to create two flowers at the same time, each with a different look.
Now, I must decide how to mat and frame this piece.  Any ideas?

So, enjoy RED, this holiday.  Do not panic, breathe deeply, and take a moment for yourself, as you work your way through the holidays.

Be ready to explore other colors in the months ahead.

Orange, the ever present, Fall color!

Fall starts with touches of colors and then it finds it's way into every tree and bush.
I love the pops of color behind the green leaves.
Florida doesn't enjoy a proper Fall, with bright colors all around, but if you look closely,
it is there in subtle changes all around us.

yes, I took this photo!!  I got lucky!
We were on vacation.  I love bright colors.
I snapped the photo and there it was - Fall!

Don't get me wrong....I love the subtle colors as well.  This French
pumpkin, has the beauty of understatement.  To me, this is also
PERFECTION!!

Yellow of Black or Brown eyed Susans make me smile.
They come in late Summer and move into Fall with grace & glory.

Oh Joy!!
Mini - pumpkins of every shape, size & color!

Oh yes, Love the oranges - always!!

I saved my work for the last surprise.  See, we have Fall in Florida!  We just have to look for the oranges, that are hiding in plain sight.  I just finished this work, and it reminds me that Fall is here,
even when it is 85 degrees out side.  So, enjoy the season and all it has to bring to us.  Be grateful for what you have, where you are.  I am.

'til next time.....

What have I been doing?

work by Cynthia R. Rothbard - 2016

Every month, I will show a piece of work that I have done or seen, or a place of creativity, that I have visited.  I have chosen to write once a month, as that fits into my schedule a bit better.

This one was done in watercolor with some w.c. pencil added for the details.  I saw this flower at the Crystal Bridges Art Museum in Bentonville, Arkansas.  I took many photos of it, and finally had time to sit down this summer and paint it. I am presently researching the name of it.

Hello Again.....tell me what you think....

It has been over three years, since I have written on this blog.

I am not sure that there is anyone out there who remembers me.  If you do and you wish for me to start this blog up again, let me know.

My life has changed a lot and I have moved into a new stage of joy.  I am still painting and drawing with colored pencil.

One of the reasons that I left the Blog universe is that people were using my art, without my permission.  All my photos are yours for the taking.  My Artwork was not.....    so, I quit putting it out there.  After some reflection, I realized that I am not taking it with me, so I ought to just share what I love.

If I hear back from anyone, I will offer a free piece of work on my next blog post.  It will be small, but I will give it away to the best comment.  Let's hope that there are at least five comments....

Hope to hear from you....
