Steamboat Springs Botanical Gardens

While in the mountains, we stopped at the Steamboat Springs Botanical Gardens. What an amazing garden they have created in a very short period of time. I believe that the gardens were first opened in 1997, with local help and workers who probably spent untold hours, volunteering, to make this a special stop for plant lovers. They have many native species of plants and trees in the garden, along with touching memorial benches and gardens, and sculptures that are quite endearing and dramatic. Of course, I did not pre-plan and so there is not a link quite yet on my sidebar..... However, I will work on that later today, so that if you are traveling this way, you can be sure to stop in Steamboat (as we like to call it) and enjoy a true Colorado experience....Wonderful valley and ski area (hiking and biking and anything else you can think of to do in the outdoors), wonderful food and wonderful people. (Try Sweetwater restaurant, right on the river... for a great treat).

Colorado Columbine's never fail to catch my heart

This Monarch butterfly followed us through out the garden

Of course, Alliums are a bulb, found everywhere,
but the sun made them pop and I had to take a photo!
